This the third HMS Newcastle was a fourth rate 50-gun ship.
Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, 144ft long, 41ft wide and of 1,052 tons builders measurement. The third HMS Newcastle served for just eleven years, from 1750 to 1761. But during this time she was in action several times against the French, and gained three battle honours. Foundered in a cyclone off Pondicherry 01-Jan-1761. Won the Battle Honours: Sadras 1758, Negapatam 1758 and Porto Novo 1759.
