Honour - Negapatam 1758 |
||||
Description |
The action took place near Negapatam, SE India and followed on from the
indecisive action three months before at Sadras. The British squadron under Vice-Admiral Peacock and 7 ships-of-the-line met the French squadron of 9 ships-of-the-line several days before. The British pursuit brought the French to action at noon on 03-August and continued until nightfall, when the French disengaged to the north under cover of darkness. While no ships were sunk, casualties on both sides were heavy.
