HMS Newcastle (1860)  (5th)

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Newcastle was a wooden screw frigate.

Built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 16-Oct-1860, 250ft long, 52ft wide and of 3,035 tons builders measurement or 4,020 tons displacement. With an armament of 30 x 8in guns, 1 x 68pdr gun, 20 x 32pdr guns.

She served in India and Japan before being reduced to a powder hulk at Devonport 1889.

She remained at Devonport until 1929 when she was sold and broken up.
