HMS Panther (1941) DD  (6th)

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Panther was a P Class, destroyer.

Built by Fairfield, laid down 15-Jul-1940, launched 28-May-1941, commissioned 12-Dec-1941.

On commissioning went to the Eastern Fleet and took part in operations at Madagascar where with HMS Active sank the French submarine Monge.

In mid 1942 it was to the Mediterranean for Malta convoy escort duties. Then to the North Atlantic until Jul-1943 and operations for the Sicily landings.

Sunk by German dive bombers in the Scarpanto Strait, 09-Oct-1943.

Won the Battle Honours: Diego Suarez 1942, Atlantic 1942-43, North Africa 1942-43, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Mediterranean 1943 and Aegean 1943.
