HMS Vanguard (1910) BB  (8th)

    
This HMS Vanguard  the eighth to carry the name was a St Vincent Class battleship. 

Built by Vickers, laid down in Apr-1908, launched 22-Feb-1909 and completed in Feb-1910. 

She served with the Home Fleet from 1910-14, then from 1914 onwards was with the Grand Fleet.

Was in action at Jutland but suffered no damage.

On 9-July-1917 she was sunk by an internal explosion while at Scapa Flow, with a large loss of life.

Later raised and broken up in 1927 on the Tyne.

Won the Battle Honour: Jutland 1916.
