HMS Vanguard (1870) BB  (7th)

This HMS Vanguard was the seventh to carry the name.

She was build by Lairds, launched 03-Jan-1870, and completed in September. 

This Vanguard had only a short career.

Served as guardship at Kingstown from 1870-1875. Then 01-Sep-1875 she was in collision with Iron Duke in Dublin Bay and sank, with no loss of life.
