St Vincent Class (1910) BB |
|
The St
Vincent Class were almost identical in outward appearance to the previous Bellerophon
Class but were slightly larger.
Their main guns were also the longer 50 calibre 12in guns type, instead of the 45 calibre type fitted in earlier classes. This gave the guns a higher muzzle velocity and so greater penetrating power, but at the expense of higher barrel wear. Armour protection was also modified with less protection for the bow and stern sections.
