HMS Sapphire (1905) CC  (8th)

    
This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Sapphire was a 3rd Class, Protected Cruiser.

Built by Palmers of Jarrow, laid down 30-Mar-1903, launched 17-Mar-1904, and completed 07-Feb-1905.

On completion served as Flagship, Rear Admiral (D) at Portland 1905-07, then Captain (D) Channel Fleet 1907-09, Senior Officers Ship 5th Destroyer Flotilla at Devonport 1909-12. Finally the 7th Destroyer Flotilla Home Fleet 1912.

Joined the 2nd Fleet 1912-13, then the Grand Fleet 1914-15. To the Mediterranean 1915-16, the East Indies Station 1916-19.

Returned to the UK and paid off 1919.

Sold 1920.

Won the Battle Honours : Belgian Coast 1914 and Dardanelles 1915.
