This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Queenborough was a Q
Class, destroyer. Built by Swan Hunter, laid down 06-Nov-1940, launched 16-Jan-1942, and commissioned 10-Dec-1942. On commissioning went to the Mediterranean. Took part in the Sicily and Salerno landings 1943. Mar-1944 as part of the 4th Destroyer flotilla, went to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean, taking part in carrier raids against Japanese held territory. Then at the end of 1944 it was to Australia as part of the British Pacific Fleet. Then with Task Force 57 from early 1945 until the Japanese surrender. Sep-1945 transferred permanently to the Royal Australian Navy. Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1942-43, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Mediterranean 1943, East Indies 1944 and Okinawa 1945.
