HMS Fury (1935) DD  (9th)

    
This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Fury was an F Class, destroyer.

Built by White, laid down 19-May-1933, launched 10-Sep-1934, and commissioned 18-May-1935.

On completion formed the 6th Destroyer Flotilla (with her sister ships), with the Home Fleet.

Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935.

The F Class Flotilla was renumbered the 8th in May 1939.

Took part in Norwegian operations then mid-1940 joined force H.

Returned early 1942 for Arctic convoy duty.

To the Mediterranean 1943 and saw action at Salerno and the Aegean Sea.

Struck a mine 21-Jun-1944 off the Cotentin peninsula and driven ashore in a gale. Assessed as a Constructive Loss. Salvaged and towed to Barrow for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Spartivento 1940, Mediterranean 1941, Malta Convoys 1941-42, Atlantic 1941-43, Arctic 1942-43, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Aegean 1943 and Normandy 1944.
