This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Cormorant was a 4-gun, wooden screw gunvessel/

Built by Fletcher of Limehouse, laid down 09-Aug-1855, launched 19-May-1856 and completed 20-Jun-1856, 180ft long, 28ft 4in wide and of 670 tons builders measurement and displacing 860 tons. Armed with 1 x 110pdr, 1 x 68pdr and 2 x 20pdr guns.

Sunk in action 28-Jun-1859 at the Peiho Forts, China.

Won the Battle Honour: China 1856-59.
