This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Cormorant was a 4-gun, wooden screw sloop, the name ship of a class of 13 ships.

Built by Wigram of Blackwall, laid down 20-Jun-1859, launched 09-Feb-1860 and completed Mar-1862.

Sold at Hong Kong 1870.
