Composite Screw Sloop 6-gun

    
This the tenth ship to carry the name HMS Cormorant was a 6-gun, composite screw sloop.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 1875, launched 12-Sep-1877 and 02-Jul-1878, 170ft long, 36ft wide and displacing 1,130 tons. Armed with 2 x 7in and 4 x 64pdr guns.

Used for harbour service from Nov-1889.

Renamed HMS Rooke Jul-1946.

Broken up 1949 at Spain.
