This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Ariadne was a wooden paddle sloop.

Used in the Indian service, built by Laird, launched Dec-1839, 139ft long, 26ft wide and of 432 tons builders measurement.

Foundered of Chusan, 23-Jun-1842.
