This the first ship to carry the name HMS Ariadne was a sixth rate, 20-gun, ship.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 27-Dec-1776, 108ft long, 30ft wide, and of 430 tons builders measurement.

Rebuilt at Northam 1792 as a sixth rate, 24-gun, ship.

Sold 07-Aug-1814.

Won the Battle Honour: St. Lucia 1778.
