This the second ship to carry the name HMS Penn was a P Class,
destroyer. Built by Vickers Armstrong on the Tyne, laid down 26-Dec-1939, launched 12-Feb-1941, and commissioned 10-Feb-1942. Mid-1942 to the Mediterranean for Malta convoy escort work. Early 1943 in the North Atlantic with the 3rd Support Group Jul-1943 operations for the Sicily landings. Then 1944 to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean. Took part in carrier strike operations and coastal strikes against Japanese forces on the Burma and Malaya coasts. Served for a short time after the war. Sold 31-Jan-1950 and broken up at Troon. Won the Battle Honours: Malta Convoys 1942, North Africa 1942-43, Atlantic 1942-43, Mediterranean 1943, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Aegean 1943 and Burma 1945.
