This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Pegasus was a 3rd
Class, Protected Cruiser. Built by Palmers of Jarrow, laid down May-1896, launched 04-Mar-1897 and completed 1898. On completion went to the South America Station 1899-1900, then on to the Mediterranean 1901-04, Australia 1905-12, China 1913, and the Cape Station 1913-14. Sunk by the German Konigsberg off Zanzibar, 20-Sep-1914 with loss of 31 of her crew.
