HMS Hero (1759)  (1st)

This the first ship to carry the name HMS Hero was a third rate, 74-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 28-Mar-1759, 166ft long, 47ft wide and of 1,574 tons builders measurement.

Used as a prison ship from 1793.

Renamed HMS Rochester 15-Sep-1800.

Broken up at Chatham Jul-1810.

Won the Battle Honours: Quiberon Bay 1759, Belle Isle 1761, Sadras 1782, Providien 1782, Negapatam 1782 and Trincomalee 1782.
