HMS Grafton (1679)  (1st)
3rd Rate 70-gun 

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Grafton was a third rate, 70-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Woolwich Dockyard, launched 1679, 150ft long, 40ft 6in wide and of 1,096 tons builders measurement (bm). 

Rebuilt at Rotherhithe 1700 as 1,102 tons bm.

Captured by the French off Beachy Head 01-May-1707.

Won the Battle Honours: Barfleur 1692, Vigo 1702, Gibraltar 1704 and Velez Malaga 1704.
