Wooden Screw Frigate 51-gun

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Emerald was a 51-gun, wooden screw frigate.

Converted from an originally designed fourth rate 60-gun, ship of 2,146 tons builders measurement  at Pembroke Dock. Launched 19-Jul-1856, 237ft long, 52ft 6in wide and of 2,913 tons builders measurement. Armed with 30 x 8in, 1 x 68pdr, and 20 x 32pdr guns.

Sold 01-Dec-1869.
