HMS Edgar (1668)  (1st)
3rd Rate 70-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Edgar was a third rate, 70-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built by Bailey of of Bristol, launched 29-Jul-1668, 154ft long, 40ft wide and of 1,046 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Portsmouth 1700 as 1,119 tons bm.

Burned in an accident at Spithead Oct-1711.

Won the Battle Honours: Sole Bay 1672, Schooneveld 1673, Texel 1673 and Barfleur 1692.
