This the tenth ship to carry the name HMS Basilisk was a B
Class, destroyer. Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 19-Aug-1929, launched 06-Aug-1930, and commissioned 04-Mar-1931. Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935. The start of WW2 saw her with the 19th Flotilla with which she took part in Norwegian operations. Then it was on to Dunkirk operation where she was badly damaged by aircraft off La Panne, 01-Jun-1940. After survivors had been taken off the wreck was torpedoed by HMS Whitehall. Won the Battle Honours: Norway 1940 and Dunkirk 1940.
