This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Winchester was a fourth rate, 52 gun, ship.

Built at Woolwich Dockyard, laid down Nov-1818, launched 21-Jun-1822 and completed 16-Sep-1822.

On completion went into Ordinary (Reserve).

Renamed HMS Conway Nov-1861 and used as a training ship. Renamed HMS Mount Edgcumbe 01-Sep-1876.

Sold 08-Apr-1921.

Won the Battle Honours: Burma 1852-53 and China 1856-60.
