This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Vigilant was a Vigilant class, second class wooden screw gunvessel. The name ship of a class of 14.

Built by Mare of Blackwall, launched 20-Mar-1856, 181ft long, 28ft 6in wide and of 680 tons builders measurement. Armed with 1 x 110pdr BL, 1 x 68pdr MLR and 2 x 20pdr BL guns.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Ordered sold at Bombay 25-Feb-1869.
