HMS Tartar (1888) CC  (6th)

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Tartar was a torpedo cruiser.

Built Thomson of Clydebank, laid down 02-Mar-1885, launched 28-Oct-1886, completed 1888.

On completion went into reserve at Sheerness 1888-91, then to the North America & West Indies Station 1891-97.

Returned to the UK for refit at Chatham 1898, after which it was to the Cape Station 1989-1900. Refitted at Haulbowline 1902-03.

A final operational tour was to the South Atlantic Station 1903-04.

Sold 03-Apr-1906 to Forrester of Swansea.

Won the Battle Honour: South Africa 1899-1900.
