This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Sirius was a 2nd Class
Protected Cruiser. Built by Armstrong Mitchell of Elswick, laid down Sep-1889, launched 27-Oct-1890, and completed 1891. On completion served as the Flagship, South America Station 1892-95, then returned to the UK and into reserve at Devonport 1895-97, particular service 1897-98. Reserve once again at Devonport 1898-1903. To the China Station 1903-05. Back to the UK and reserve again at Devonport 1906-11. To the America & west Indies Station 1912-13. Reserve 1913-14. To the Nore 1914-15, then the West Arica Station 1915-18. Prepared as a blockship at Chatham 1918. Sunk as a blockship at Ostend 23-Apr-1918. Won the battle Honours: Belgian Coast 1914 and Zeebrugge 1918.
