HMS Retribution (1800) (1st)

This the first ship to carry the name HMS Retribution was a
fifth rate, 32-gun, ship. Originally HMS Hermione. Built by Teast & Tombs of Bristol, launched 09-Sep-1782, 129ft long, 35ft wide and of 716 tons builders measurement. Handed over to the Spanish in the West Indies 22-Sep-1797 by her mutinous crew. Recaptured 25-Oct-1799 and renamed HMS Retaliation. Renamed HMS Retribution 31-Jan-1800. Broken up at Deptford Jun-1805.
