HMS Resolution was laid down in Dec-1913, launched 14-Jan-1915 and completed in Dec-1916.
She joined the Grand Fleet Dec-1916. Remained with the Grand Fleet and the Atlantic Fleet until 1924. Mediterranean 1925-35, apart from a refit 1930-31. Home Fleet from 1936. Early in WW2 was employed in convoy escort duties. Saw action in the Norwegian campaign, and hit by a bomb off Norway 16-May-1940, receiving slight damage. More action followed against the French at Mers-el-Kebir 3-July-1940. Supported operations of Dakar Sept-1940. Torpedoed by French submarine Beveziers 25-Sep-1940, with considerable damage to the port side bulge, and one boiler room flooded. After temporary repairs at Gibralter returned to the UK Mar-1941, and then on to Philadelphia for full repair and refit April-Sept 1941. Joined Home Fleet until Feb-1942, when she went out to the Eastern Fleet. Remained in the Indian Ocean until late 1943 when she returned to the UK. Became a training ship May 1944. Sold 05-May-1948 and broken up at Faslane. Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1939-40 and Norway 1940.
