This the second HMS Nelson was one of two Northampton Class
battleships.
She was built by Elder Shipbuilders laid down in Nov-1874, launched 04-Nov-1876 and completed in Jul-1881. She served on the Australia station from 1881-89, part of the time as Flagship. After a long refit at home, she served only in reserve or as a guardship until 1894, when she was reduced to a hulk. became a training ship 1902. Sold 12-Jul-1910 and broken up at Holland. |
