This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Minerva was a second
class cruiser. Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 04-Dec-1893, launched 23-Sep-1895, and completed 04-Feb-1897. On completion served in Particular Service 1897, then went into reserve at Chatham 1897-99. Joined the Cruiser Training Squadron for boiler trials 1899-1903, after which she returned to reserve at Devonport 1903-04. To the Mediterranean 1904-12 during which she refitted 1908. Served with the 3rd Fleet 1913-14, and the West Coast of Ireland Coastal Patrol 1914. To the East Indies and Egypt 1914-15, the Dardanelles 1915, and remained at Egypt 1915-16. To the East Africa Station 1916-18, and the Cape Station 1918. Sold 05-Oct-1920 at Auten. Won the Battle Honours : Suez Canal 1915, Dardanelles 1915.
