This the first ship to carry the name HMS Minerva was a fifth rate, 32-gun, ship.

Built by Quallet of Rotherhithe, launched 17-Jan-1759, 124ft 6in long, 35ft wide and of 664 tons builders measurement.

Captured by the French ship Concorde 28-Aug-1778. Recaptured 04-Jan 1781 and renamed HMS Recovery.

Sold 30-Dec-1784.

Won the Battle Honour: Quiberon Bay 1759.
