HMS Majestic (1895) BB  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Majestic was the name ship of a class of three battleships

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, laid down in Feb-1894, launched 31-Jan-1895 and completed Dec-1895.

Served as Flagship of the Channel Fleet 1895 to 1904, then various roles in the Channel, Atlantic and reserve Fleets, until being refitted 1907-8.

Following refit served mainly with the Home Fleet until 1914. Joined 7BS August 1914 and acted as convoy escort and Channel and Dover patrol.

In early 1915 joined the force off the Dardanelles.

Sunk 27-May-1915 by torpedo fired from a U-boat.

Won the Battle Honour: Dardanelles 1915.
