HMS Majestic (1955) CVL  (4th)

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Majestic was laid down as one of the Majestic Class (1948) of Light Fleet Carriers.

Built by Vickers Armstrong of Barrow, launched 28-Feb-1945, 630ft long, 80ft wide and displacing 16,000 tons. However she was not completed until Oct-1955.

While under construction was bought by the Royal Australian Navy and renamed HMAS Melbourne 28-Oct-1955.

She was laid up in 1983, and sold for scrap in 1985.

Left Sydney 27-Apr-1985 for breaking up at Shanghai.
