HMS Majestic (1785)  (1st)
3rd Rate 74-gun

    
This the first HMS Majestic was a third rate, 74-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built by Adams &Barnard of Deptford, launched 11-Feb-1785, 170ft 6in long, 47ft wide and of 1,623 tons builders measurement.

In1813, reduced to a fourth rate, 58-gun ship, armed with 28 x 42pdr carronades, 28 x 32pdr, 2 x 12pdr guns.

Captured the French ship Terpsichore, in the Atlantic 03-Feb-1814, which was renamed HMS Modeste.

Broken up Apr-1816 after having been stranded.

Won the Battle Honours: First of June 1794 and Nile 1798.
