This the first ship to carry the name HMS Leviathan was a storeship.

Originally HMS Northumberland (1750), a third rate, 70-gun ship. Built at Plymouth Dockyard, launched 01-Dec-1750, 160ft long, 4ft wide and of 1,414 tons builders measurement.

Renamed HMS Leviathan 13-Sep-1777 when changed to a storeship.

Foundered 27-Feb-1780 when on passage from Jamaica to Britain.
