This the first ship to carry the name HMS Jupiter was a fourth rate, 50-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built by Randall of Rotherhithe, launched 13-May-1778, 146ft long, 41ft wide and of 1,044 tons builders measurement.

Wrecked at Vigo Bay 10-Dec-1808.

Won the Battle Honour: Cape of Good Hope 1795.
