HMS Eclipse (1897) CC  (7th)

    
This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Eclipse was a 2nd Class, Protected Cruiser.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, laid down 11-Dec-1893 launched 19-Jul-1894, and completed 23-Mar-1897.

On completion served as Flagship East Indies Station 1897-1900. Returned to the UK and refitted at Chatham 1900-01. To the China Station 1901-04, and again returned to the UK and reserve  at Devonport, 1904-05. To the America and West Indies station as Cadets Training Ship based at Bermuda 1905-06. Back to the UK and reserve at Portsmouth 1906-07.

Attached to the Royal naval College, Osborne 1907-12, to the 3rd Fleet at Portsmouth 1912-13 and then Devonport 1913-14.

Escorted new Australian submarines AE1 and AE2 to Singapore 1914.

Joined 12 Cruiser Squadron Western Channel 1914-15.

Duty as an accommodation ship submarines 1915-18.

Laid up at Devonport 1918-19.

Sold Aug-1921.
