HMS Eagle (1679)  (6th)
3rd Rate 70-gun 

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Eagle was a third rate, 70-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 1679, 151ft 6in long, 40ft 6in wide and of 1,053 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Chatham Dockyard 1699 with an increased tonnage of 1,099 tons bm.

Wrecked at the Isles of Scilly 22-Oct-1707.

Won the Battle Honours: Barfleur 1692, Gibraltar 1704 and Velez Malaga 1704.
