This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Despatch was a
6-gun, armed ship. Originally HMS Cherokee, bought Sep-1774, 76ft long, 18ft 6in wide and of 177 tons builders measurement. Renamed Despatch Apr-1777 and used as a transport. Sold 27-Feb-1783.
