This the first ship to carry the name HMS Brecon was a Hunt
Class Type 4, destroyer escort. Built by Thorneycroft, launched 27-Jun-1942 and commissioned 18-Dec-1942. Initially served in home waters then went to the Mediterranean 1943, remaining there until 1945. Then to the East Indies until the end of WW2. Went into reserve 04-Dec-1945. Arrived at Faslane for breaking up 17-Sep-1962. Won the Battle Honours: English Channel 1943, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Mediterranean 1944, South France 1944, Aegean 1944 and Atlantic 1945.
