This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Blake was a
Cruiser. Built by Fairfield of Govan, laid down 17-Aug-1942, and launched 20-Dec-1945. Completion suspended until 15-Oct-1954 when it was announced she would be completed to a new design. Superstructure was dismantled 1955 in preparation for completion to the new design. Commissioned 08-Mar-1961. Then served with the Home and Mediterranean Fleets 1961-63. Into reserve 1963-65. Converted to a Helicopter Cruiser at Portsmouth 1965-69. Used for general sea service 1969-76. Refitted 1976-77, then general service 1977-79. Appeared at the Silver Jubilee Review 1977. Into reserve Dec-1979-81. Listed for disposal 1981. Arrived at Cairnryan 28-Oct-1982 for breaking up.
