This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Arethusa was a light
cruiser. Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 28-Oct-1912, launched 25-Oct-1913, and completed 11-Aug-1914. On completion served as Leader 3rd Destroyer Flotilla at Harwich 1914-15. Took part in the Heligoland operation 1914, helped cover the Cuxhaven Raid 25-Dec-1914, was at the Dogger Bank action. Joined the 5th Light Cruiser Squadron at Harwich 1915-16. Struck a mine off Felixstowe 11-Feb-1916, and was taken in tow. Broke loose and broke her back having run aground on the Cutler Shoal. Won the Battle Honours: Heligoland 1914, Dogger Bank 1915.
