HMS Wrangler (1944) DD  (5th)

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Wrangler was a W Class, destroyer.

Built by Vickers Armstrong, of Barrow, laid down 23-Sep-1942, launched 30-Dec-1943, and commissioned 17-Jul-1944.

On commissioning formed part of the 27th Destroyer Flotilla.

Moved to the Indian Ocean Nov-1944, then Jan-1945 to the Pacific with the British Pacific Fleet. Where she ended the war.

Converted to a Type 15 frigate 1952.

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953.

Sold to the South African Navy 29-Nov-1956 and renamed Vyrstaat.

Sunk as a target 1976 off South Africa.
