HMS Whirlwind (1918) DD  (1st)

     
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Whirlwind was a W Class, destroyer.

Built by Swan Hunter, launched 15-Dec-1917 and completed 28-Mar-1918.

Sunk 05-Jun-1940 by U-34 south west of Ireland.

Won the Battle Honours: Zeebrugge 1918, Ostend 1918, Atlantic 1939-40 and Norway 1940,
