HMS Verulam (1943) DD  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Verulam was a V Class (1943), destroyer.

Built by Fairfield, laid down 26-Jan-1942, launched 22-Apr-1943, and commissioned 10-Dec-1943.

On commissioning formed part of the 26th Destroyer Flotilla, and joined the Home Fleet.

During 1943-44 service alternated between Arctic convoy work and Norwegian carrier raids.

At the end of 1944 went to the East Indies and raids against Japanese forces on the Malayan and Burmese coasts. Which continued until the end of the war. Went into reserve 1949.

Converted to a Type 15 frigate 1952.

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953.

Sold 01-Sep-1972 and broken up at Newport.

Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1944, Normandy 1944, Norway 1944, Malaya 1945, Burma 1945 and East Indies 1945.
