This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Tiger was a wooden paddle sloop.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 01-Dec-1849, 250ft long, 36ft wide and of 1,221 tons builders measurement.

Armed with 2 x 10in, and 14 x 32pdr guns.

Re-rated as a frigate 1852.

Grounded while in action near Odessa 12-May-1854.

Renamed as the Russian Tigr.
