HMS Swift (1943) DD  (24th)

     
This the 24th ship to carry the name HMS Swift was an S Class, destroyer.

Built by White, laid down 12-Jun-1942, launched 15-Jun-1943, and commissioned 06-Dec-1943.

On commissioning took part in Russian convoy escort and offensive carrier sweeps off the Norwegian coast during 1943 and the first half of 1944. Then Jun-1944 operations as part of the Normandy landings.

Struck a mine and sank 24-Jun-1944 off Normandy.

Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1944 and Normandy 1944.
