HMS Sultan (1775) (2nd)

This the second ship to carry the name HMS Sultan was a third
rate, 74-gun, ship-of-the-line. Built by Barnard of Harwich, launched 23-Dec-1775, 168ft 6in long, 47ft wide and of 1,614 tons builders measurement. Used as a prison ship from Feb-1797. Renamed HMS Suffolk 1805. Broken up Jan-1816. Won the battle Honours; Providien 1782, Negapatam 1782 and Trincomalee 1782.
