Iron Turret Ship 4-gun

    
This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Scorpion was a 4-gun, iron turret ship.

Built by Laird for the Turkish Navy, and launched 04-Jul-1863, 220ft long, 42ft 6in wide and of 1,857 tons builders measurement, displacing 2,751 tons. Armed with 4 x 9in guns.

Bought by the Admiralty Oct-1863.

Used Oct-1869 as guard ship at Bermuda and laid up there 1899.

Sunk as a target 1901.

Raised and sold Feb-1903 at Bermuda.

Sank 17-Jun-1903 while on passage to Boston.
