This the second ship to carry the name HMS Royal Oak was a third
rate, 70-gun, ship-of-the-line. Built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 1674, 157ft 6in long, 40ft 6in wide and of 1,107 tons builders measurement (bm). Rebuilt at Chatham 1690 with an increased tonnage of 1,154 tons bm. Rebuilt at Woolwich 1713, with tonnage reduced to 1,108 tons bm. Rebuilt yet again in 1741, this time at Plymouth, with tonnage increased to 1,224 tons bm, and guns reduced to 64-guns. Breaking up completed at Plymouth by 08-Apr-1764. Won the Battle Honours: Barfleur 1692, Velez Malaga 1704 and Passero 1718.
